Matthew is youngest male in the group. He is a Wambaya person from North East Tennant Creek and he
also has links with the Yuggera people. He started performing at the age of 7 years and since then has
accompanied the group on the dance tour throughout Australia. He is completing his schooling through
correspondence and has performed at numerous venues with the Imbala Jarjum dance group.
He is at present working with conservation and land management through Imbala Jarjum to increase his
knowledge about the regions native food products in the hope of incorperating this into the current
business structure. He enjoys working with wood and usually takes trips with other family members to
gather the wood needed to make artifacts, didgeridoos, clap sticks and other musical instruments.
The instruments that are used in this production have been made by Matthew and other family members.
As well as his dance he has taken some interest in singing which he is receiving voice training for so
as to develop his vocals for further expansion on the group’s already existing products.
He is a quite achiever and is always there to be a friend and help anyone in need. His unusual sense of
humor and his quite ways leaves an impression on most people who meet him. His main goals are to help
support the family business, get his license and buy a car.
